Vietnam EV maker VinFast to stop making gas-powered cars by late August
Jul.19,2022

Asian Tech Press (July 19) -- Vietnamese electric car maker VinFast will stop producing gas-powered vehicles by the end of August, four months earlier than originally planned.

VinFast officially announced that it would suspend sales of gas-powered vehicles on July 15 after selling out of the last batch of Lux and Fadil cars.

The automaker said it advanced the suspension of gas-powered vehicle sales, originally planned for December 2022, due to a sharp increase in orders for Lux and Fadil cars.

VinFast also said that by August 2022, it would focus on producing vehicles for delivery to customers who have signed purchase contracts, while fully transforming the brand into an all-electric one.

With the suspension of gasoline vehicle sales, VinFast will become the first and only all-electric vehicle manufacturer in Vietnam.
