Asian Tech Press (Sep 9) -- Indian conglomerate Tata Group is in talks with Apple supplier Wistron to assemble iPhones in India.

Tata Group is in talks with Wistron Corp., a Taiwanese supplier to Apple Inc., to set up a joint venture to manufacture electronics in India and seek to assemble iPhones in the country, sources said.

Apple suppliers such as Wistron and Foxconn currently assemble iPhones mainly in factories in China and India.

The two parties have not yet finalized details of the deal, such as capital structure and equity, and negotiations are still underway, according to people familiar with the matter.
