Asian Tech Press (Nov 30) -- The Tata group is in talks with Apple supplier Wistron to buy its Indian iPhone factory for $600 million, sources said.

India's Tata Group is in talks with Wistron Corp., a Taiwanese supplier to Apple Inc., to buy its only manufacturing plant in India for up to 50 billion rupees ($612.6 million), market sources said.

Tata Group may also consider a joint venture with Wistron if it fails to reach an acquisition agreement with the company, the sources said.

Wistron is one of Apple's largest suppliers in India, with its plant located in the southern Indian state of Karnataka.

This is not the first time there have been rumors about a partnership between the two companies. Earlier this year in September, sources said that Tata sought to establish a joint venture with Wistron to assemble iPhones in India.
