Samsung 3nm GAA process first customers may be AMD and Qualcomm

Asian Tech Press (Dec 07) -- According to DigiTimes, Samsung is actively seeking orders for its 3nm GAA chip process. In addition, there is speculation that AMD and Qualcomm could be among the first customers for its new cutting-edge process.

Samsung's rival TSMC has now begun trial production of its 3nm process technology. In addition, it plans to start mass production of its advanced chip technology sometime in the fourth quarter of next year. However, sources close to the matter also found that Qualcomm, AMD and other major players in the industry are showing interest in Samsung's 3nm process. The former is preparing for a 3nm process using FinFET architecture, while the latter will launch a process based on the GAA architecture.
