Netflix acquires gaming studio Spry Fox

Asian Tech Press (Nov 1) -- Global streaming giant Netflix announced Monday that it has acquired Spry Fox, a Seattle-based independent gaming studio.

However, Netflix has not disclosed the financial terms of the deal. Upon completion of the deal, Spry Fox becomes Netflix's sixth in-house games studio.

Founded in 2010 by David Edery and Daniel Cook, Spry Fox is a Seattle-based game studio with offices in San Francisco, the UK, and Argentina, known for popular games such as Triple Town, Alphabear, and Cozy Grove.

Spry Fox is currently developing Cozy Grove 2 and a larger, non-violent MMO that the gaming studio still hasn't revealed much about publicly.

The acquisition will help Netflix accelerate creative development in another beloved genre add to the growing variety of the company's games catalog , Amir Rahimi, vice president of Game Studios at Netflix, said in a post.
