Japan's first self-driving bullet train put to the test

Asian Tech Press (Nov 17) -- According to Japanese media reports, East Japan Railway Company conducted a self-driving test of Shinkansen trains on the 17th.

This is the first self-driving test of a Shinkansen train, but it did not run at full speed during the trial.

In order to cope with the shortage of drivers, Japanese railroad companies have been conducting self-driving tests on ordinary trains and Shinkansen trains.

At present, the self-driving technology of Shinkansen trains is still in the research stage.

The maximum speed of Shinkansen trains is over 300 km/h. In the test on that day, the train traveled about 5 kilometers with a maximum speed of about 100 kilometers per hour.
