Asian Tech Press (May 18) -- China Evergrande (3333.HK) has indefinitely postponed the pre-sale of its first mass-produced electric vehicle.
News recently said that Evergrande's first pure electric SUV Hengchi 5 has started pre-sale during the Labour Day holiday, and within 10 hours of the opening of surprise booking, the number of orders for Hengchi 5 reached 50,000.
Hengchi 5 has successfully rolled off the production line in late December last year, 12 days earlier than the original schedule.
Relevant staff of Evergrande Auto, the indebted property developer's EV unit, denied it and said, "The pre-sale of Hengchi 5 has not yet started."
Earlier, Evergrande Auto revealed that on April 21, three Hengchi 5 vehicles appeared at Evergrande Center in Guangzhou, and Hui Kayan, Board chairman of Evergrande, and his management team experienced Hengchi 5 in all aspects.
Hui Kayan had clearly said in the mobilization meeting held on March 22 this year, "We must work hard for 3 months and realize the mass production of Hengchi 5 by June 22."
