China's BYD to start selling EVs in Mexico next year

Asian Tech Press (Nov 30) -- Chinese automaker BYD Co Ltd will start selling electric cars in Mexico next year.

Zou Zhou, Country Manager of BYD Mexico said Tuesday that the company will sell the BYD Han luxury sedan through seven dealers in Mexico next year, and will also start selling the pure electric version of the BYD Tang SUV.

BYD hopes to sell 10,000 vehicles in the Mexican market in 2023 and 20,000-30,000 in 2024, Zou said, adding that the company's long-term goal is to gain about 10% market share in the country.

Zou also disclosed that the company aims to sell cars through 15 licensed dealers in Mexico by the end of 2023, reaching 40 by 2024.
