BYD to start EV sales in Japan by early 2023

Asian Tech Press (Dec 5) -- Chinese aotomaker BYD Co. Ltd. (1211.HK) will sell electric vehicles in Japan by early 2023.

BYD's Japanese subsidiary said Monday it will start selling its battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in the country early next year.

The company said it will launch the ATTO 3, a mid-size electric SUV with a range of 485 kilometers and a price tag of 4.4 million yen ($32,568), in Japan starting Jan. 31, 2023.

BYD said its Japanese unit plans to launch two more models by the end of 2023 and have more than 100 dealers in Japan by the end of 2025.

The Chinese automaker announced its entry into the Japanese market at the end of July this year with the launch of three electric vehicle models in Tokyo.
