BMW may use cylindrical batteries supplied by CATL,Eve Energy, others from 2025

Asian Tech Press (May 13) -- BMW AG may use cylindrical batteries from suppliers such as CATL and Eve Energy since 2025.

To reduce battery costs, The world's biggest luxury-car maker is considering using cylindrical batteries in its new electric-vehicle platform starting in 2025, industry sources said.

BMW currently buys batteries from China's Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. (CATL) and Eve Energy Co., South Korea's Samsung SDI Co. and Sweden's Northvolt AB.

The German automaker is planning to purchase cylindrical batteries from these existing partners.
