Apple asks Taiwan's Pegatron to produce premium iPhone 14 models amid tight supply

Asian Tech Press (Dec 2) -- Apple has asked Taiwan's Pegatron to produce high-end iPhone 14 models amid supply constraints, sources said.

Apple has asked Pegatron, the second largest iPhone assembler, to produce the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max to ease supply shortages, according to Taiwan's Economic Daily News.

The two high-end models will go into mass production in late December at the earliest, the report said, which is the first time Pegatron has taken orders for high-end iPhone models.

Apple had previously entrusted Foxconn with the exclusive assembly of high-end iPhones, with Pegatron only able to share orders for entry-level models and some special models.

TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in late October that Apple was discussing with Pegatron and Luxshare Precision Industry Co Ltd. the possibility of converting the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus production lines to make the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
