Apple's App Store launches third-party payments in the South Korea

Asian Tech Press (June 30) -- Apple has officially launched third-party payment options in the App Store in South Korea.

Apple had announced earlier this year that it would comply with a new law in South Korea to support third-party payment providers in the App Store.

The iPhone maker has announced in a developer update Thursday that effective immediately, developers can apply to use third-party payment methods in apps distributed on the App Store solely in South Korea.

Currently, four Korean payment providers have received approval to offer alternative payment solutions in the App Store, namely Korea Cyber Payment (KCP), KG Inicis, Toss and Korea NICE Payments Co., Ltd.

If developers want to access a different payment provider, they need to be verified by Apple first.
